Terri Schiavo: Michael's Contempt of Court Hearing

March 27th, 2004
Another disappointment! "Judge Greer declined to issue a ruling today and stated that he would do so within the next few days". Meanwhile, Terri's physical condition declines, due to gross neglegence of 'caretakers'.

The hearing held 3/26/4 regarding Michael being in contempt of court for refusing to keep Terri's parents informed regarding Terri's condition was another disappointment.

From the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation:
Judge Greer declined to issue a ruling today and stated that he would do so
within the next few days. He also suggested that the 1996 court order,
which was issued by another judge, should be revisited in court so that the
term 'significant change' could be determined.
Meanwhile, Terri's condition is showing serious neglect.  Accoding to Cheryl Ford, RN:
"On two occasions in the past few weeks, both Bob and Mary Schindler have told me that they asked why Terri's hair was oily and not washed.  They have questioned why she was not taken out of bed, or dressed.  They have questioned why she had a sudden unexplained bout with vomiting.  They questioned what happened to one of her teeth; why was it missing.  They now want to know why Terri has a decubitus ulcer on her buttock?  An ulcer, which would most likely not be present if proper nursing care was being given to Terri.  However, they are not given answers by the nursing staff or by anyone.  I cannot help but to find the situation here in Clearwater the most appalling and blatant disregard for human life in my entire 25 years in the medical profession."

More from Cheryl Fore, RN:

"On Wednesday, I attended a meeting in St. Petersburg at the Center for Independent Living where Assistant Attorney General Shanika Graves, was in attendance.  I personally sat across from Shanika and asked her to please help Terri.  I asked, that if she could not help this blatant situation of abuse against a disabled innocent woman whose husband is out to kill her, that she refer me to another agency who could help in this untenable situation.  She agreed to do so.  Yesterday on March 25th, I received a voice mail message from a man named Tyrone from Ms. Graves office at 954-712-4607.  He said that the attorney general's office "Charlie Crist" had sent out an opinion stating that they had no jurisdiction over anything that had to do with Terri Schiavo."  [Perhaps you would like to persuade her differently.]

Also, please call the state abuse line at 1-800-96-ABUSE and ask for them to follow up with an investigation regarding lack of care for Terri.

From Terri's brother, Bobby Schindler, Jr.:

"I feel as if Judge Greer is blatantly ignoring a very clear and concise
court order issued by Judge Pennick in 1996. What about 'change in medical
condition' requires interpretation? With every hearing, it gets more
obvious to me that this judge is working to insulate Michael Schiavo and,
in the process, is causing harm to my sister and torturing my parents. God
have mercy on other parents of disabled people in this jurisdiction."

VATICAN CITY -- Pope John Paul II said Saturday the removal of feeding tubes from people in vegetative states was immoral, and that no judgment on their quality of life could justify such "euthanasia by omission."

Just moments ago the Senate voted and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (S.1019) fetal homicide legislation passed by a vote of 61 to 38!

The Senate also defeated two alternative Amendments in an effort to kill the legislation. Also a pro-life Victory!

Above all, we need to keep praying for Terri and her family.  They are grateful for your faithfulness.
